Saturday saw Station X record a career best as he took the Ayr Silver Cup by a nose under a great ride by Oisin Orr. Owned and bred by Mr S Chappell, this lovely son of Dark Angel relished the heavy conditions. It was a nervous wait as to whether the meeting would go ahead due to the heavy rain that had arrived in the morning but after two inspections a cheer from the crowd signalled that we would be able to run. Station X has been building momentum all season with three previous wins starting at Southwell in the spring followed by two gutsy victories at Chester. It was fabulous to bring the historic Silver Cup back to Hambleton, ten years after Delectation took the Firth of Clyde (Group 3) on the same card.
