A racing yard is only as good as its staff and we are lucky to have such a strong and experienced team working with us. We have a great group of long-standing stable staff here at Hambleton House who are dedicated to their roles in providing the very best level of care for each horse in training.
Team Smart pride themselves in taking great attention to detail having won numerous 'best turned out' awards at the races, this is then reflected in day-to-day work in the yard.
Our staff are highly valued and this has been recognised through the Lycetts Team Champion Awards 2020 in which our yard was a finalist in the over 40 horses category and was then awarded a Gold Accreditation for our outstanding levels of team ethos and staff engagement. We are also very proud to have been awarded a Certificate of Excellence for our Safe Working Practices.
We are passionate about rewarding our team and often utilise the Godolphin Stud & Stable Staff Awards to do this. In 2020 we had two employees shortlisted and one who went to the final and won the David Nicholson Newcomers Award 2020 which was a great achievement.
Vicky is a partner in the business and works alongside Bryan to ensure that the horses are fit and healthy by executing her skills as a qualified Veterinary Nurse and Veterinary Physiotherapist. She has also completed a 3 year Veterinary Homeopathy course and finds that this natural system of medicine can hugely benefit the horse by treating the totality of the animal, stimulating the body's own healing process and importantly has no side effects or withdrawal periods. Vicky competed in BSJA Show Jumping before she became involved in racing through the Point to Point field. She was a successful amateur rider winning races in Point to Points and on the flat. Vicky cooks a great breakfast for the owners on ‘work mornings’ and in between managing the business and looking after all the humans and horses she enjoys riding her own Irish Sport horse and helping Beth with her showjumpers. She also enjoys re-schooling the racehorses and actively tries to find suitable forever homes for them after their racing career is over. She has produced a number of ex-racehorses to championship level in the show ring and is the Retraining Consultant for RoR (Retraining of Racehorses) which is horse racing’s own charity. To find out more about Retraining of Racehorses click on our ‘Retraining’ page.
One of the unique features about Bryan Smart's training yard is the constant presence of a physiotherapist and homeopath who also rides out and is personally involved with the horses. To find out more about Vicky's work in any of the above fields click on the appropriate areas on this website.

What a great morning spent at Bryan Smart's stables watched the 2 year olds breezing up the grass gallops, the grass gallop was like walking on a deep pile carpet then a great breakfast no better place to be on a lovely spring morning - thanks for a great morning Bryan Smart racing.
