Smalljohn returned to Wolverhampton to achieve his fourth course victory just a week after his previous success.

Again ridden by Tom Eaves, Smalljohn led early but was not given an easy time of it being taken on by Kipchak around the bend. However, when Tom Eaves switched him to the outside of that rival as they entered the straight, he galloped away to a 2 1/2 length victory from Kensington.

Smalljohn has now won his last two races and not been out of the first two in his last four runs. He will, no doubt, return to Wolverhampton at some point soon to try to maintain that impressive sequence.
